                                                 world heritage of Lake Baikal

Lake Baikal ( Russia ) is most deepest lake in the world...It's 1637 merters deep
      and most transparency , too...
I few wondered why Russian traditional fork song was popular when I was child..
singer song in TV or radio and we song at school , too..but these song disappeared
before we knew after collapsed of Soviet Union...I don't know why melody was so fit
and harmed our deep heart but I remenberd USA traditional fork song was popular too in
same time..( for example Forster or so on...)

Follow the song of memory as my favorite of Russian fork, I found one song as
tytle of " Beside the Lake Baikal " in internet ( few supprised to contents of song ..
l didn't remenber the words of this when I song....) I translate words about here...

Fertile the Baikal... boundless field and mountain..
a haggard traveler wander with no direction..

Defeated of war and be imprisoned ...
walk in dark road from escaped...

traveler who is standing beside of lake..
             He cursed
    dark world and song sorrowful...

explanation.....this song was about revellion of against to an absolute monarch
with emancipation of serfs at the end of Tsarist Russia...main activist were young
officers...Soviet Union was 1922-1991...20Century was the times of wonder and sorrow...

songs I sung as a child are always with me.

  • Your posts are so tranquil.  Thank you for reminding us that the kingdoms of man are temporary.

  • The song must have been both beautiful and sad to sing as a child. I would love to visit Lake Baikal one day. In fact I'd like to see any part of Russia.

In what part of Russia were you born?

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Someday I would like to visit this lake.  I read so much about it and it still calls to me.
