  • more annunciation..

        Filippo Lippi ( 1406-63 Italy ) made 1443

Fillipo lippi_1406-1469   This Gabriel's eye line is few drop down to
Maria's foot side..his face is so normal beauty
and feel respect to mother of Jesus..wing is
as like as peacock and solid..few dissapointed ,
can't see detail in this picture, God ( left upper
side ) send little light line to Maria's chest and
white pigeon center on the light..and under pigeon ,
white lily in the Gabriel's hand...this lily is drawd
strong to compear any other annunciation..

My interest forcus to Gabriel , because he seems
few boy's atmosphere and crown or flower hair
band on his curly hair and wear softly cloth that
no express coercion as such destiny Maria have..
and this maria's atmosphere seems over out
supprise and feel acceptance at once...no wonder
she is most special woman who was selected by
God in my thought .....how Maria send message
to our world from her grave still now..think about
       this,  how mysterious it is...

  • Great story behind Lippi. He was going to be a priest, but he fell in love with a nun and created a scandal when they ran off to get married. The Medici family, who funded a HUGE volume of Italian renaissance art, recognized Lippi's talent and paid the church to go easy on the young friar.

Ironically, the son of these two lovers became a great painter in his own right.

I like to think that, rather than gazing downward toward Maria's feet, Gabriel is actually looking at the holy text which foretold of the arrival of the Messiah she was to carry.

Regardless of the intended focus, the work is indeed incredible. You have wonderful taste.

  • A most stunning and lovely painting you share with us this day, my Friend~

The beauty is in the mystery of things, yes~

    Many Blessings~

  • RYC: I apologize! THIS is the version painted by Filippino Lippi - the son!

I had my upper Lippi confused with my lower Lippi. :o )
