  • If a man has no honor, then he can only pretend to understand beauty.

  • War is a stain on any man's soul. Some men can handle it better than others. Most wars are about nothing anyway except politicians' pride. But most politicians keep their sons out of battle.

  • War is nothing but a sacrifice of our young people. It serves only the rich and powerful. It kills the poor and humble. Judi

  • God Bless. Judi

  • RYC, if there was a military 'draft' in America there would certainly be more anti-war protests.

  • I never read the book but it sounds interesting.

  • Awesome post Naomi... although I think war can be a woman's job...
Thanks for the very enlightening comment. It is wonderful to here from you and you are right about freedom... it is does not necessarily equal happiness, in fact it carries a great responsibility... some can not handle this.

    Have a great week.

  • "War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

    - John Stuart Mill, English philosopher, 1806-1873.

  • In a perfect world, there would be no war. But this world is far from perfect and as much as I hate fighting, there are some things worth fighting for. Anyone who is exposed to war is hugely affected ... some just handle it better than others. God bless.
