Yes, it would be nice to have one common language. Here in California Spanish has become the language one hears the most. They have demanded that everything be in Spanish. Some people have lived a long time here and have never bothered to learn English. California changed it’s laws so one must have a translator in law. hospitals etc …it has become a big mess. Sorry to say people use the system or I should say they abuse the system.. Yes, I agree one common language would be ideal. Could go on and on in this subject!!! It’s a little touchy talking about this now a days!!!!! We have so many illegal people living here who now demand sevices. I had to wait in line in a store for some one to translate when the man was ‘all of a sudden’ could not understand English when he was questioned about the card he had because it was his “wife’s” card. Funny language can be selective….its like hearing you only hear what you want to hear…..here I go… as I said it is a touchy subject here…

i love learning different languages. i can read, write and speak fluently both in my native tongue, Filipino and in English. last year i studied French. and this year, i’m thinking of studying Japanese since my boss is going to be a Japanese this coming month of July.

I personally hope that not one language will take over the world. We need to still preserve those languages spoken by a few. We don’t want to lose a great part of human culture and move too quickly into an assimilated future.
